Norma Lucille Conti
Norma Lucille Conti, 84, died suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Ames, where she had resided in more recent years after a long residency in California and a shorter period in Melbourne, Australia. A memorial service was Sunday, Oct. 1, for Bickford Cottage residents and a few close friends. A private service will be at a later date in Denver, Colo. Burial will be in Ames.

Ernest and Alta Harris were the parents of Lucille and her sister, Darlene of Ames. Lucille was a 1939 graduate of Seymour High School. She and her husband shared the Catholic faith. She was employed much of her adult life by the U.S. Postal Service in Inglewood, Calif., where she received the Distinguished Service Award. After the death of her husband, Stephen Conti, in Australia, she moved to Ames where she worked in the Iowa State University food service until she retired. Since Aug. 1, 2004, Lucille enjoyed the family environment in Bickford Cottage Assisted Living in Ames.

She is survived by one sister, Darlene Harris Harl, and brother-in-law, Neil Harl, of Ames; two nephews, Rodney Harl, of Denver, Colo., and Brent Harl, wife Darcy and great-nephews Michael, Jack, Joseph and Rhett, also of Denver.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
