Beaulah Kathryn (Kate) Shultz, 86, died Friday, Sept. 29, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Graveside services were Monday, Oct. 1, in Jefferson Cemetery.

Kate was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Jefferson, to Charles and Mary Blackburn. She married Eugene W. Shultz June 10, 1941. They raised seven children, Doug (Cathy) Shultz, of Beaver, Okla., Jeannie (Allan) Samson, of Loveland, Colo., Kathy (Knut) Morken, of Ames, Debi Skarzenski, of Hudson, N.H., Tim Shultz of Council Bluffs, Terry Shultz, and Carrie (Jeff) Maskevich, of Spirit Lake.

She enjoyed roller skating, gardening, fishing, spending time with family and volunteering at the hospital. She was a member of the Birthday Club.

She is survived by six children; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marge (Gene) Greene, of Ames; two brothers, Dick (Betty) Blackburn, of California, and Bob (Mana) Blackburn, of Oregon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Shultz; her husband, Eugene; one granddaughter, Nancy Shultz; three sisters, Cleta Lowton, Marion Pille and Margaret Blackburn; and four brothers, Darrell Blackburn, Sam Blackburn, Roger Blackburn and Roland Blackburn.
