THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 14, 2006.

Elmer George Rath, 97, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Ames, died Monday, Sept. 11. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

He was born Jan. 22, 1909, in Effingham, Ill., to Robert E. and Elizabeth M. (Quast) Rath. He was a graduate of Ames High School. He married Leone Lewis Aug. 22, 1933, in Ames. He farmed for many years in the Ames area and was retired from the Ames Post Office. He greatly enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Helen Ziebell and husband, Bud, of Buckeye; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, James; and one sister, Nellie Christianson.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements.
