JARVIS, FRANK (-1921)
THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 6, 1921, Page 8, column 1. “FRANK JARVIS DEAD. – The following clipping was sent us by Mrs. Steve Gardner, of Coggswell, North Dakota, under the date of September 28th. Mr. Jarvis will be remembered by many of our citizens, having been principal of the Maxwell Schools during the school year 1890-91:
Frank Jarvis, of Oakes, formerly principal of the Cogswell high school died at his home in Oakes, Saturday evening, from a stroke of apoplexy. Funeral services were held Monday morning and the remains were shipped to his old home in Iowa for interment. Mr. Jarvis purchased the Oakes Journal when he resigned as principal of the local school, and edited the paper for a number of years. Selling the paper, he again took up school work and in 1918 was a candidate for county superintendent of schools in Dickey county, losing upt by a very small margin. Just before leaving Cogswell his only son died, and a short time afterwards, he lost borth his wife and daughter. About a year ago Mr. Jarvis married a second time. Deceased was an ideal citizen – the type of man who stands for the best things in life. “None knew him but to love him, none named him but to praise.” – COGSWELL ENTERPRISE.”
