Phyllis Smith, 80, died Friday, June 9, at Brookdale Ramsey Village in Des Moines. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church.

Phyllis Marie Smith was born July 3, 1925, in Cedar Rapids. She married Arthur L. Smith in 1946, and they raised their children in Cedar Falls, Oelwein and Ames. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, and was happiest when they visited her at her home at Sun Valley Lake. She was a member of Ellston Methodist Church in Ellston.

She is survived by one son, Daniel (Betsy) Smith of Coon Rapids, Minn.; two daughters, Kathy (Bob) Irving of Des Moines and Linda (Bill) Wells of Polk City; seven grandchildren, Bret Agard, Jodi Houser, Brian and Brody Wells, Eric and Jacob Irving and Anca Smith; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne Chadima of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, is in charge of arrangements.
