TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 1, 2006.

Kenneth S. Ihle, 90, formerly of Slater, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Madrid Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 30, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with the Rev. Heidi Williams officiating. Burial was at Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

Kenneth was born Aug. 17, 1915, to Nels O. and Nella (Karlsen) Ihle. He was a lifetime Slater resident. He farmed and was a substitute mail carrier.

He married Jean Bengtson on March 9, 1938, in Madrid. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the JV Club and a 30-year member of the Saturday Night Club.

Immediate survivors include a son, Leon (Pamela) of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a daughter, Patricia (Rex) Hughes of Nipomo, Calif.; a brother, Nilus Ihle of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandsons, Jeffrey Hughes, Richard Hughes and Justin Ihle; three great-granddaughters, Alison Hughes, Lauren Hughes and Peyton Ihle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Mervin and Otis.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater was entrusted with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Madrid Home.
