Emma Lowe

Emma Ilene (Dunahoo) Lowe, 72 of Nevada died on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, May 25 at Chet Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Maxwell Cemetery.

Ilene was born on December 19, 1933 in Story County to Wilfred A. and Edna F. (Fry) Dunahoo. She was a 1951 graduate of Maxwell High School. On November 4, 1951, Ilene married Delbert Eugene Lowe in Iowa Center. She had been employed at the Nevada Telephone Company, Donnelley Marketing, Cabin Crafters, and Dr. David Wait dental office. Ilene was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Flames Nevada Firefighters, and the American Legion Auxiliary Ames Unit #37. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, camping and baking.

Ilene is survived by her husband, Delbert Lowe of Nevada; a son, Rick A. Lowe (Renae Sudbeck-Lowe) of Story City; grandson, Nicholas Lowe of Springfield, MO and step granddaughter, Paxton Sudbeck; daughter-in-law, April Lowe of Eldon, MO; sister Jessie Huff of Nevada; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons, Michael in 1954, Kevin in 1988, and Randy in 1961, and 2 brothers, Charles (Bill) Dunahoo and John Dunahoo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Ilene's arrangements.
