Edna E. Robinson
Edna E. Robinson, 92 of Colo died from complications of cancer on Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 23 at the Colo United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Roth officiating. Burial, followed the luncheon, at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Edna was born on October 31, 1913 in Shipley to Robert H. and Esther A. (Beckwith) Robinson. She was a graduate of Colo High School and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Edna retired in 1979 from a long teaching career. She had taught in Center Point, Oxford Junction, Osage, Denison, Dayton, Rockwell City, and Colo. Edna enjoyed wintering in Arizona, traveling, gardening and reading. She was famous for her delicious tea rings and cinnamon cresent rolls. Edna will be remembered fondly by many former students and friends.
Edna is survived by a brother, Virgil Robinson of Colo; 2 sisters, Dorothy Horneck of Sante Fe, NM and Opal R. Wilson of Prairie City; 2 sister-in-laws, Shirley Robinson of Colo and Helen Robinson of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Maxine, Margaret Robinson, Lucille Mathis, 2 brothers, Clayton and Doyle Robinson, and a nephew, Donnie Robinson.
A memorial fund has been established.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Edna's arrangements.
