THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 25, 2006.

Dorothy Egan, 88, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 22, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Friends may call after 6 tonight at St. Malachys Catholic Church in Madrid, where a parish vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the church. A graveside service tentatively will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, her home for 40 years. Please contact Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield to confirm the time of this service.

Dorothy was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Wapello to Robert and Geneva Nelson. She married Harry Egan in 1945. The husband she loved with all her heart went to be with the Lord in 1961. She traveled the world and enjoyed her life and family but as she aged, she looked forward to being reunited with the husband she missed so much.

She was the cherished mother of four surviving children, daughter Barbara Egan and husband Jim, of Columbia, Mo., daughter Diana Egan of Ames, son John Lee-Egan and wife Liz of Huxley and daughter Ginny Egan of Ames; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Josiah, Laura, Dana, Michael, Tommy and David; one step-grandchild, Sara; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Dana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Dorothy's favorite charities, Food For The Poor and/or Covenant House. Donations made payable to these organizations may be sent c/o Adam's Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames, IA, 50010. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now in heaven, at peace and full of joy.
