THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, April 23, 2006.

Guy Wakefield Jr., 82, formerly of Gilbert, died Friday, April 21, at Bethany Manor, Story City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Gilbert Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, at Gilbert Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Prochnow officiating. Burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery.

Guy Wakefield was born July 28, 1923, in rural Story County to Guy and Jessie (Day) Wakefield Sr. He attended Milford Community School. He married Lula Beth Thompson Jan. 20, 1945.

Occupied as a farmer north of Ames, he retired in 1980 when he moved to Ames.

He is survived by his wife, Lula, of Story City; two sons, Larry of Bellefourche, S.D., and Bill (Paula) of Roland; two daughters, Linda (Tom) Eaches of Ames and Ann (Marvin) VanLoh of Gilbert; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Wakefield of Nevada; and one sister, Velda Oliver of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials may be designated to the family.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
