THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 28, 1897, page 1, column 4. “PEORIA CITY – Died, on the 19th, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Randal aged five weeks. The bud bloomed only to fade too soon; just long enough to gladden its parents hearts then to leave them sad and broken hearted, Their joys turned into mourning for the loved and lost dear little boy. The artist came down from Maxwell and took a photo of the lifeless form that the parents and friends might have the image of the little one – not life like – but like death leaves the body – with closed eyes and marble forehead, ice cold hands folded upon the quiet breast where the beating heart has ceased its throbbing, as the pangs of death are past. The funeral was preached by Rev. Sparks to a large audience of sympathizing relatives and friends from thos words, “Suffer little children to come unto me, ec.” All present seemed to say it was the most sad funeral …Peoria cemetery…..”
