NOLANS HAVE 40TH
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Nolan of Story City, observed their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house, Sunday, June 26, in the Fellowship Hall of Grace United Methodist Curch. The former Marie Hughes and Patrick Nolan were married on June 27, 1937 at the home of the bride's parents near Nevada, Ia.
Mr. George Toft registered the guest. Mrs. Grace Long and Mrs. Monrad Bergeson poured coffee. Mrs. Rexford Hughes and Mrs. Vere Belefeldt dipped punch. The serving table was decorated with a centerpiece of pink glads and accents of ruby glass.
The Rev. Duane O'Tool opened the program with devotions. Mrs. Ted Thompson announced the program and introduced the wedding party of forty years ago: Eleanor Blanchard Anderson, bridesmaid; Ray Hurley, best man; Mary Toll Bergeson, flower girl; Edith Rosene Brooks, soloist; and Edna Hughes, pianist.
Mrs. Roger Bohning sang "O Promise Me" and I Love You Truly", songs used at the wedding. Mrs. Anderson recalled incidents of the courtship and marriage. Linda Hughes Meyers, niece of Mrs. Nolan, sang several numbers popular in the 30's. Mrs. Paul Beckman and Mrs. LeRoy Mick closed the program with a piano duet.
Wedding guests in the Nolan home were their children John and Carolyn Nolan, and daughter Laurel of Madera, Calif. and Gordan and Jean Larson, and sons Scott and Patrick of Spokane, Wash.; also a friend, Mrs. Anton Anderson of Whitewater, Wis.
