This accident occurred in New York City and not in Sioux City, Iowa. At the top of the article in the Sioux City Journal, it references the story which occurred in New York.
The lengthy story is reported on the front page of the New York Times in great detail. Reference below.
"Three laborers named Edward Foley, Nixon Ralph, and Patrick Conway, were instantly killed, Wednesday afternoon, by the premature explosion of a blast, at One Hundred and Forty-seventh Street, near Seventh Avenue, New York. Police officer John Armstrong and a laborer named Michael Buckley, were seriously wounded."
