Accidental death of ancestor

On 28 November, 1872, as reported in the Sioux City Journal, Patrick Conway was accidentally killed in a premature explosion while working on a city project. I can find no further information on this event, or a posting of a death notice or certificate of death. Where to look other than further newspaper searching, which has proved fruitless thus far? Thanks for your help.
