Hello:
I have hunted through the Hawarden and Rock Valley papers on line (individually page by page) also with no luck, both in March and May of 1915. I have found several different death dates so therein may lie some problems.
On the tombstone it looks like he died 24 MAR 1915, but Mar can be interpreted as May possibly. An account I found on line list his death as 28 May 1915.

The headstone index done in 1979 show him as deceased Mar 24, 1915.

The WPA record shows him as Sioux
JACOBSON Ole 22 Aug 1838 24 May 1925 Fairview S. D. Sioux (Why was Fariview SD mentioned? Was he living there at the time of his death?)

I am guessing that the WPA record has the wrong year since several of the others report 1915 as well as the tombstone.

Why he is not in the local Sioux County newspapers I can not say. Since the cemetery is located very close to the Lyon county line and the town of Inwood, your next best possiblitly would be to contact the Rock Rapids Public library with the available dates and have them check the newspapers for Inwood and Rock Rapids, even possibly Doon.

I hope you have some luck there.
