Vermeer Familybook.
Together with the Foundation Genealogy Archive Vermeer (SGAV in Dutch), I am busy to compose the first great Vermeer familybook. The book is about the Vermeer family that originates in Harderwijk in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands. Today the complete family includes branches in Harderwijk, Barneveld, Spakenburg, American branches in Sioux County, Iowa and others that spread around the world.
But without input from everybody who is a member of this big family a publication won't be possible. A 'dry' survey of names and dates does not invite further reading or re-reading.
A book like this needs to be completed with familypictures, documents, stories that went down by generations and other family related things. Also the local history will get it's attention to get an idea of how our ancestors lived and which historical happenings influenced their lives in the last 625 years. Our oldest ancestor has been traced back into the end of the 14th century.To be included:
- History of Harderwijk;
- Short history of Barneveld;
- Short history of (Bunschoten-) Spakenburg;
- About immigration;
- Short history of Sioux County, Iowa;
- Our family armor;
- Genealogical survey of the whole family 1370-present, including family portraits (300-400 pages);
- Picturebook of the towns of Harderwijk, Barneveld, Spakenburg and Sioux County;
- Old/local habits and local costumes;
- Short ancestry of related families.
- Index: names and sources.In total about 500-600 pages.
+ A cd-rom (possibly two) with extra photographic material.
The Vermeers in Sioux County, Iowa descent from:
Jacob E. Vermeer and Jannetje Willems Luchtenburg (son: Evert Vermeer married Heintje Sneller);
Evert E. Vermeer and Jannetje Lokhorst (son: Gerrit Vermeer married Petertje Vermeer) ;
Hendrik Vermeer and Hendrika te Grotenhuis; (above: immigration 1867/68, eventually to Sioux Center)
Evert Vermeer and Geertje Rikkers (immigration in 1910 to Hull).I need your help.
You can make your contribution!
(1) I'm looking for pictures of your parents, uncles and aunts, ancestors and so on, to be albe to give all names in the familybook a face. I will be great to bring all the pictures together and see not only your ancestors and siblings but also all their cousins and other relatives. Maybe your grandparents operated a shop or a farm. Such pictures can also be very attractive.
I prefer copies (no originals). You should keep the originals yourself, of course.
Possibilities are digital scans or digital pictures from the originals.
Prefered size 600x800 pixels up to 768x1024 pixels in 'jpg'-format. To be sent by email.
Or on cd-rom by surface mail (if it are a lot of pictures).(2) Newspaper articles, birth-, wedding- and funeral cards, anniversaries, and so on.
(3) Describe the life of your ancestors or another relative.
(4) Ask me what I know about your closest Vermeer relatives and maybe you'll be able to update or correct the details I have.
