VANDERBURG, BRINK, KOOLS

Hello Sioux Co,
Last year I was researching my grandmother's family in Orange City and Hospers. Wilma was of great help to me. When I finished my family report I mailed a copy to you, titled KOOLS which included Brink and Vanderburg families.

I have now returned working in depth my grandfather's Vanderburg family. First I want to tell you your web page additions are wonderful. Lately I have been searching, on the web, all over Iowa. Your page has been the most informative Iowa page. I feel fortunate my family settled in your county.

The family I am now working on is my great grandfather's brother and his family. These two brothers (and families) were the only ones to come to North America. Hendrik's family has proven to be very difficult to find. I am in the process of elimination. I need your help. Hopefully someone will know the Vanderburg families and all the subtle differences in the name.

My great grandfather, Willem Vanderburg, came to north America in 1882 with his wife and children. They settled in Orange City.
In 1886 his nephew Wiepke (Billy) came,
in 1891 another nephew G.W. (George),
in 1892 another nephew Jan Willem came.
In 1895 their father, my great grandfather's brother, Hendrick Vanderburg came with the rest of his family. His brother, Hendrick Vanderburg died in 1900.

In my process of elimination I need to know more about these families....
1900 Iowa Census Index
VANDEBERG, Henry----Floyd, p.63, r98, 227/229
VANDE????, ???----Sheridan , p.205, r86, 63/63 (I am interested in Susie's age)
VANDERBURG, Jan William ----Reading, p.167, r85, 94/95
VANDERBERG, John----Welcome, p.231, r43, 122/122
VANDERBERG, Wallis ----Capel , p.17, r42, 79/79
VANDERBERG, Garret ---- West Branch , p.247, r62, 285/288
I know the family's ages and birthplaces I will have something new to work with.

I have found their emigration info from your link. But, I do not read Dutch and would like a translation of their occupations.....
What are the differences???
Stoffenverver (a type of painter)
Huisschilder (painter)
Verver (painter)

Sincerely thanking you for your time and interest,
Joyce
