EDNA LECKBAND
Funeral services for Edna (Mrs Ottomar) Leckband were held May 1 at Zion Lutheran Church, of Ocheyedan. Rev. Richard Kothe officiated. Burial was at the church cemetery with Andringa Funeral Home of Sibley in charge of the arrangements. She died April 28 at the Worthington Regional Hospital at the age of 80.
She was born January 14, 1906 in Sioux county to George W. and Sophia Ostermann. She lived her youth in Sioux county until 1911 when she moved with the family to Ocheyedan. She and Ottomar Leckband were married June 12, 1930 and lived on a farm south of Ocheyedan until moving to their present residence near Ocheyedan when retiring.
She is a graduate of Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls, and taught for many years in rural Ocheyedan schools. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Auxiliary, and the Federated Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Glade, Ocheyedan; one son, Larry, Ocheyedan; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Ostermann, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters: Mrs. Adele Bremer, Ocheyedan, Mrs Leona May, North Branch, Minn.; and Mrs. Ruth Heidner, Mitchell, S. Dak.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, 4 sisters and four brothers.
