Herbert A Ostermann

Herbert A. Ostermann, 67, died at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls on Oct. 20. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan with Rev. Robert Barth officiating. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Ocheyedan under the direction of Walton Funeral Home.

Herbert was born Nov. 24, 1914 near Ocheyedan, the son of George and Sophie (Kappy) Ostermann. He attended Zion Lutheran School and Ocheyedan High School, graduating in 1933. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-45. He owned and operated a hardware store in Ocheyedan for many years, and served as mayor of Ocheyedan. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Rose Glade, Mrs. Adele Bremer, and Edna (Mrs. Ottomar Leckband), all of Ocheyedan, Mrs. Leona May of North Branch, Minn. and Ruth (Mrs. Walter Heidner) of Mitchell, S. Dak.; and one brother, Harold, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and his parents.
