Mr. Mitchell “Tater” Kooiker, age 34, of Hull, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024, at his home, after experiencing a heart attack in his sleep.

There will be a visitation with the family on Tuesday, June 25, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. The family will be hosting a memorial service on Wednesday, at 10:30am, at the Calvary Protestant Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Allen Brummel officiating.

Mitchell Jon was born on June 4, 1990, the son of Nick and Janet (Mouw) Kooiker.

Mitch's family and friends meant everything to him. He was an irreplaceable best friend to his brothers and sister and a ray of laughter and light to friends. Because of his charismatic and loving nature, everyone quickly became a friend.

Mitch became a dad to Kennedy Lynn in 2016. He loved her dearly and was very proud of how smart and kind she is. He glowed whenever he talked about her. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with Kennedy, especially their special trips to town to get her favorite iced hot chocolate.

He had a way of making each person he encountered feel like the most important person in the world. Mitch was a fabulous uncle to Charlotte, Cooper, and Dane, and was excited to show them the cows and spend quality time chatting with them. Mitch showed his love by going out of his way to help anyone in need and will be remembered for his cheesy and contagious smile, high energy and excitement, and really great hugs. Words cannot express the widespread impact Mitch left. As stated by many friends, he was "truly one of a kind."

Survivors include his daughter, Kennedy Lynn Kooiker; his parents, Nick and Janet Kooiker, of Hull; his siblings, Casey (Beatrice) Kooiker, of Hull; Will (Mikal) Kooiker, of Johnson Creek, Wisconsin; Krystal Kooiker, of Fremont, Nebraska; and Jacob Kooiker, of Orange City; a niece, Charlotte; a nephew, Cooper, of Johnson Creek; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Joyce Kooiker and Casey and Jeanette Mouw; three uncles, Wayne and Ken Kooiker, and Richard Strouth; and an infant nephew, Dane Nicholas Kooiker.
