Rites Held For Mrs Ida Watson

Funeral services for Mrs Ida Watson, 88, who died Sunday August 26, 1962 at the Mapes Nursing Home, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral home, Dr. G.S. Bruland of the First Methodist church officiating.

Interment was at Grace Hill cemetery. Mrs Ralph Gregg, Jr. soloist was accompanied in two hymns by Mrs. Hal Shoemaker, organist. Casket bearers were Roy Mapes, E.V. Slife, H.W. Gibson, Roy Searle, Russell Younie and Merlyn Waterman. Mrs Watson was born November 27, 1873 in Cedar County, Iowa. She came to Hawarden in about 1900 and worked in the rural Searle home. She married Tom Watson at Miller, S.D., who preceded her in death in 1937. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas age 14, in 1926 and five sons who died in infancy. Mrs Watson, who had been blind for some time, is survived by several nieces and nephews.
