Death Claims Thos. Watson - passed away at home here on Thanksgiving Day - Was 65 Years of Age and Made His Home in This Community for More Than Thirty Years

Thomas Watson, for more than 30 years a resident of this vicinity, passed away at his home last Thursday following a lingering illness. Mr. Watson had been failing in health for a long time and had been bedfast practically a year preceding his death. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the pastor Rev. Robt. H. Forrester, in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery. Thomas Watson was born at Booneboro, Iowa, Nov. 5, 1869, and passed away Nov. 29, 1934, at the age of 65 years and 24 days. When he was forty years of age the family moved to Cedar county, Iowa. Later he moved to Miller, S.D., where he was engaged in farming for a few years. It was while he lived in South Dakota that he formed the acquaintance and married Ida Walton, the wedding taking place February 5, 1893. To this union were born six children, five of whom died in infancy and Tommy passed away when 13 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Watson came to this vicinity over thirty years ago and for six years they lived at the T.W. and L.H. Searle farm. Later they moved to Hawarden and Mr. Watson was employed in the local yards by the North Western Railway Co. He followed railroad work for more than twenty-five years and proved to be a trustworthy and faithful employee. He was laid off three years ago when railroad work in this city was greatly curtailed. Besides his wife he is survived by one brother, Amison Watson of Orient, South Dakota. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family.
