Mrs. Elizabeth Doppenberg, age 93, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Crown Pointe Estates in Sioux Center.

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City with the Rev. Mark Haverdink officiating. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Elizabeth was born on April 17, 1929, in Orange City, the daughter of Gerrit and Bertha (Gesink) Gesink. She was raised in Orange City and attended the Orange City Christian School.

On October 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Bernard Doppenberg in Orange City, where they made their home and were members of the First Reformed Church. In addition to being a homemaker, Elizabeth worked for a few years as a housekeeper at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. Bernard passed away on August 28, 1986, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after more than 38 years of marriage. Elizabeth became a resident of Crown Pointe Estates in July of 2012.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Ron and Sue Doppenberg, of Sioux Center; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Doppenberg; five grandchildren, Dana, and her husband, Matt Kauffman; Diane, and her husband, Rob Lynch; Allison Hammer; Erik Doppenberg; and Daniel Doppenberg; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Kauffman; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Gesink.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Hammer; two sons, Loren Doppenberg and Rick Doppenberg; and four brothers, Gerrit Henry Gesink; Bert Gesink, and his wife, Arlene; Harvey Gesink, and his wife, Donna; and Elmer Gesink.

Memorials will be given to the family for future designation.
