Pioneer Settler Passes away

Grandmother Konz an old and respected lady of this community passed away on Monday evening at the home of her daughter. Mrs. A. Noethe, near Sutherland IA. She was 87 years and 8 months old at the time of her death and had been suffering from infirmities due to old age the past few months.

Susan Hess was born in Luxemburg Europe in 1832. In 1864 she was united in marriage to Math Konz in her native country. Two years later they came to this country and settle in St. Donatus IA. In May 1870 they with many others came to Sioux County IA Many of these old pioneers preceded her to the grave, among them her husband who died Nov 26, 1906

Grandmother Konz was a staunch Catholic and a devout member of St. Mary’s church for nearly fifty years. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m at….. the rest of the article...catches a few words..she is mourned by twenty eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The children are further named but illegible.
