RESEARCH NOTES

Brief obituaries in the Alton Democrat and the Rock Valley Bee (Feb. 14) give her name as Zena. A similar obituary in the Sioux City Journal (Feb. 6) also gives her name as Mrs. Zena Putnam, and adds that she was a member of the auxiliary of Maj. William A. Kirk camp, U.S.W.V.

Her death certificate (informant Adrian Warntjes) has Zena Putnam, widow of Alfred Putnam; resident of 2701 West Cottage Ave., Sioux City; born in Holland Nov. 11, 1878; resident of the United States 58 years and of Sioux City 41 years; parents Henry Warntjes and Dina Wolter; died at home on Feb. 5, 1941; cause, cardiac failure, duration 1 week, due to myocarditis, duration 1 year.

WieWasWie.nl has a birth index record for Gezina Warntjes, born 16 Nov 1878 in Vriescheloo gem. Bellingwolde, Groningen, parents Hendrik Warntjes, age 33, a carpenter, and Wolterdiena Wolters.
