Parents were Richard Scanlan and Susan Fitzpatrick, see her obit Scanlan, Susan Mrs. Richard 1852-1939.

In her obituary in the Sioux county Capital of Nov 2, 1939, states that Richard Scanlan died Jan 5, 1892. Three children were born Thomas Walter who died Aug 15, 1929 in Mitchell SD and twins Wm. John and Francis James the latter of whom died at age two. She was survived by her son Wm. John born 1885 and died 1946.
