Fern Maxine Nygard Birth: May 20, 1915 Death: March 23, 2002

Fern Maxine Nygard, age 86, of Hudson, died on Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 27 at United Church of Christ in Hudson, SD. Burial was at Eden Cemetery in Hudson.

Fern Maxine Nygard was born on May 20, 1915, near Hudson, SD, the daughter of Charles and Josie (Collins) Marshall. She graduated from Hudson High School. Maxine married Clarence Nygard on September 16, 1936, in Hawarden, Iowa. Together to farmed near Alcester, and Hudson, SD. They retired in 1975 and moved into Hudson in 1976. Clarence died on September 26, 1996. Maxine enjoyed reading and playing cards. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Women's Fellowship at the United Church of Christ in Hudson.

Surviving relatives include 2 sons and their wives, Marshall and Janet of Hudson, Gary, and Nancy of Dillsburg, PA; 3 grandchildren and their spouses. Cloie and Troy Schmidt, Brent and Pam Nygard, Adam and Jennifer Nygard; 2 great-grandchildren, Alycia and Laura Nygard.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Harley and Leon; one sister. Alberta Schmidt; one granddaughter, Hollie Nygard.
