From the Rock Valley Bee, May 19, 1939:

[this is a longer obit than in the Sioux Center News, but the first two paragraphs are badly mangled and partly missing. They include her birth date as January 14, 1884; she died at the Sacred Heart Hospital, which she had entered ten days ago for an appendix operation.]

[Surviving children] are: Mrs. Wm. (Nellie) Van Wijke; William; Henry, Richard and Marie, all of whom reside near here, the latter two still at home. There are also three grandchildren; a half brother, Rik Beek, of Sunnyside, Washington; John Beek of Rock Valley, and Mrs. A. Boscaljon of Doon.

Mrs. Verburg was of unassuming, retiring nature, whose joy was found in making a home for her family and rearing them to be christian men and women. She was a life-long member of the Reformed church, and died with the hope of seeing her Savior.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 16th, at 1:30 in the home and at 2:00 o’clock in the First Reformed church, Rev. H. J. Aberson, assisted by Rev. J. De Jongh, of Rock Rapids, in charge. A quartet [of] Mrs. J. A. Vander Ploeg, Mrs. F. Gunnink, Clarence Mulder and Stanley De Zeeuw, sang “Just As I Am” and “Have Thine Own Way Lord.”
