From the Hawarden Independent, April 20, 1939:

DEATH CALLS SMALL CHILD
Carol Mae Hone, Aged 2 Years, Passed Away Tuesday Morning

Carol Mae Hone, two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hone of Alcester, passed away at the home of Mrs. Hone’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Campbell, in Hawarden Tuesday morning. The child had not been well since birth.

Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 10 o’clock this morning with Rev. T. H. Harding, pastor of the Associated church, in charge. Burial was in the family lot at Alton.

Carol Mae Hone was born in Hawarden March 1, 1937, so was just past two years of age. Besides her parents, she is survived by a sister, Janice Lurene, aged 3 months.

From the Alton Democrat, April 28, 1939:

Carol Mae Hone, two-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hone of Alcester, who died last Tuesday at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Campbell, in Hawarden, was buried in Alton last Thursday in Nassau Twp. cemetery, where the body of the child’s grandfather, the late John Talsma, is interred. Funeral services were held at the Associated church in Hawarden in charge of Rev. Harding. The child is survived by her parents and a 3-months-old sister.
