From the Sioux Center News, April 21, 1939:

Former Ireton Resident Dies

Word was received here of the death of Miss Gertrude De Jong, 23, who passed away at the home of her parents at Estiline [i.e., Estelline], S.D. following a prolonged illness, on April 15, of Addison disease, a deterioration of the glands leading to the kidneys.

Funeral services were held Monday at Estiline and the following relatives from this vicinity motored over: Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Van Engen, Fred Van Schepen, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Fred De Jong and son Ted, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mulder, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Mulder, Mr. and Mrs. Henry De Jager, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew De Jong, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Vander Kooi, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Van Schepen, Fred Annema, Gertrude Annema, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Annema, Mr. and Mrs. T. Vollink, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Vollink, Dorothy and Cynthia Vollink, Josie and Jeanette Annema, Dorothy Van Schepen, John Van Schepen and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Annema,

The remains were interred in the Estiline cemetery. Besides her parents, deceased is survived by several brothers and sisters.
