Julia DeHoogh, 86, of Sheldon died Friday, November 7, 1997 at the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.

Services were held on Tuesday, November 11 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Reverend Gary Roozeboom officiated. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Julia was born July 7, 1911 at Newkirk, the daughter of Oscar and Jennie (DeJong) Douma. She attended country schools. She married Adrian DeHoogh on December 23, 1935 near Sheldon. The couple lived in Lynden, Washington for two years before returning to Sheldon. She was employed with Sterenberg Hardware and Garden Center for many years before retiring. Mr. DeHoogh died April 19, 1995 in Sheldon. She entered the Oak Park Care Center in March, 1996.

Mrs. DeHoogh was a member of First Reformed Church and the Sheldon Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Doris and Glen Colville of Bellevue, Washington and Joleen and Volney Rolston of Sheldon; five grandchildren, M. Andre Colville, Susan Nugent, Michelle Harder and Nancy and Kevin Rolston; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Kuiper of Sheldon.

She was preceded in death by six sisters, Hattie Kleinwolterink, Edith Veldboom, Sadie Van Oort, Minnie Vanden Brink, Jeanette DeHoogh and Nellie Reeves; and two brothers, Jake and Oscar Douma.
