Relatives received the sad message Sunday morning of the death of Sgt. James Drenth, June 25, in Korea. Death was due to aspiration vomits hysteria after apparent recovery of near drowning.
Sgt Drenth had gotten up at five that morning and had written his folks a lengthy letter. He was a cook and had to have the food prepared very early so it could be taken to the front lines under cover of darkness. In his letter he mentioned that all were going swimming because of the terrific heat.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Klaas and Effie (Brommer) Drenth, his twin sister, two other sisters, and two brothers.
He was a nephew of Mrs. Ernie Kammlade and Mrs. Bert Walinga of Boyden.
