Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Vander Haar, 85, of Sheldon, were held Monday afternoon at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home and at the First Reformed Church. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery at Sheldon.

Mrs. Vander Haar died Friday, September 26, at the Sioux City Methodist Hospital, where she had been a patient for four weeks while being treated for a broken hip. Complications incident to old age contributed to her death.

Janse “Jennie” VanDalfsen was born in The Netherlands December 22, 1866. She was married to Hein Vander Haar. He passed away March 29, 1938.

Survivors include two sons, Henry of Los Angeles, California and John of Boyden and one daughter, Alice, Mrs. Cornelius Blankers of Sheldon. There are nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Two children, who died in infancy and her husband preceded her in death.

Reverend J. Brink of Orange City was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Mrs. Vander Haar’s grandsons: Earl Eichhorn, William Rons, Dwight Vander Haar, Glenn, Dwight and Lee Blankers.
