Orville F. Conway, 84, Hawarden, died Wednesday, October 5, 1983, in a nursing home at Alcester, South Dakota.

Services were held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, October 7, in the Associated Church at Hawarden. The Reverend Fredrich Mellberg officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. A prayer service was held Thursday, October 6, in the Dow Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bart Ericson, Curtis Winquist, David De Jager, Herman Holtkamp, Orlando Harvey and Kenneth Harvey.

Mr. Conway was born December 29, 1898, near Hawarden. He married Neva Bedard in October 1917. She died March 27, 1944.

Mr. Conway was employed by the Chicago and North Western Railway, working in Huron, South Dakota and Chicago, Illinois. He farmed in Union County, South Dakota, for the last 50 years, retiring in December 1980.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ben, who died January 1932.

Survivors include three daughters: Donna Johannsen of Hawarden, Mrs. Richard (Eloise) Vogelzang of Sioux Falls, and Valoris Conway of Sioux City; a son, Robert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four sisters, Della Brouilette and Opal Johnson, both of Sioux City, Grace Johnston of Oak Park, Illinois and Lavonne Peters of Berwyn, Illinois; two brothers, Richard and Bud, both of Sioux City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Note: Orville Conway is the son of Mile and Bessie (Halverson) Conway.
