Died: April 26, 2009Patricia Martin, 63, of Granville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at her residence after suffering six long weeks from complications from a surgery.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa, with the Reverend Richard Ball officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Granville.
Visitation was after 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 30, 2009. There will be a parish Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7 P.M. all at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
Casketbearers were Kevin Belt, Keith George, Keith Holles, Steven Holles, Kevin Martin, and Todd Martin.
Patricia was born September 7, 1945, in Alton, the daughter of Gerald and Edna (Kokenge) McCarthy. She was raised in the Granville area and graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in 1963. She then attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Sioux City. She was a radiological technologist for Morningside Family Practice, then Sunnybrook Medical Clinic in Sioux City.
She married Mike Martin on November 12, 1966. The couple moved to Emerson, Nebraska and worked on the farm until 1994, when they moved back to Granville.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Guild. She belonged to two pitch clubs while in Emerson. She was a member of the Altar Society's in both Emerson and Granville. She assisted in transporting people to doctor appointments.
Survivors include her husband, Perry Michael of Granville; four sons, a daughter, spouses and 16 grandchildren, James and Leona Martin and their children, Matt and Brittany Michelson, Cassandra, Danielle and Breanna Martin, all of Brunsville, Iowa; Melissa and Mike Oehm and their children, Tyler, Josh and DJ Oehm, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; Dean and Teri Martin and their children, Taylor and Ethan Martin, all of Lincoln; Jon and Dora Martin and their children; Waylon and his wife, Linda Holt; Barack Holt and Bridgette Martin, all of El Paso, Texas, Eric and Nikke Martin and their children, Jacob Helsel, Owen and Brady Martin, all of Waverly, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Ranell and Leilani Holt of El Paso; five brothers and wives, Duane and Mary Ann McCarthy of Lafayette, Indiana; Jim and Reina McCarthy of Silver City, New Mexico; Terry and Nit McCarthy of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael and Rizza McCarthy of Hayward, California; and Brad McCarthy of Tabor, Iowa; three sisters, Carol Holles of Sheldon, Iowa; Kay and her husband, Paul Reimer of Danbury, Iowa; and Mary and her husband, Jerel Schomer of Jefferson City, Mossouri; and a brother-in-law, Jack Martin of Emerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Bob Holles and Tim Martin; and a sister-in-law, Marcy Martin
