Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church at Alton at 10 A.M. May 7 for Berend J. Veldhuis, 71, of Alton, who died May 4 at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services will be conducted by the Reverend C. Greving and burial will be made in Nassau Township Cemetery.

Mr. Veldhuis was born November 2, 1898 at Almelo, The Netherlands, son of Gerrit and Hermina (Morsink) Veldhuis. He was married to Siepkje Veenstra February 21, 1924. He operated a bakery in The Netherlands from 1924 to 1953, when he moved to Alton. He operated a bakery there until retiring in 1968. Mrs. Veldhuis died February 24, 1963.

Survivors include two sons - Stephen of Knoxville, Iowa, and Henry of Sheldon, a daughter - Mrs. Simon Scholten of Alton; a brother Henry and three sisters in the Netherlands, and three grandchildren.
