Mrs. Lillian Van Zyl, 60, nee Lillian Vande Berg passed away Saturday morning in the hospital at McMinnville, Oregon, where she lingered only a brief time after her dismissal from the Rochester Hospitals and the local hospital here. The departed was born at Newkirk and lived in this vicinity all her life.

She attended the North Western Classical; Academy, graduating with the class of 1912. After teaching in the rural schools of this locality, she married Bert Van Zyl of Hospers in 1915. To them were born four children: Kenneth, now Doctor Kenneth Van Zyl of McMinnville, Oregon; Faith, who died at the age of seven; Lola, who died when a child of 1½ years old; and Bert Lee, seventeen, who attends Orange City High School. Her husband passed away seventeen years ago.

Surviving besides the two sons are the brothers and sisters: Chas. Vander Berg of Peonia, Colorado; Mrs. Bertha De Graaf of Hospers; Mrs. Ernest Miedema of Ypsilanti, North Dakota; Mrs. Jas. Van Zyl of Sanborn; Mrs. Edward Van Zandbergen of Hospers; Ben Vander Berg of Alton; Henry of Alvord and Al Vander Berg of Orange City. A brother Gerrit died 20 years ago.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at the Trinity Reformed Church with Reverend C. Boonstra officiating. Interment will be at Hospers.
