Te Sioux City is overleden Mrs. Susie Hirsch (Eernisse). Mrs. Hirsch wordt overleefd door haar man en dochter, Mrs. Virginia Studley te Sioux City, haar broeders Matt en Abe Eernisse te Bailey, la., en James Eernisse te Sheldon, en zusters, Mrs. G. V Browning, Pasadena. Calif, en Mrs. Mary Evans, Lesterville, Alberta, Canada.

Mrs. Hirsch werd hier geboren op 16 Nov., 1872. In dien tijd woonden in deze omgeving slechts enkele gezinnen. De Eernisse familie woonde destijds aan de farm aan Hoofdweg I8 West, nu bewoond door Dick Ver Doorn. Het meer aan dien weg draagt nog den naam van Eernisse's Lake. Mrs. Hirsch werd Woensdag hier in het familie graf begraven.

Mrs. Susie Hirsche (Eernisse) died at Sioux City. Mrs. Hirsch is survived by her husband and daughter, Mrs. Virginia Studley in Sioux City, her brothers Matt and Abe Eernisse in Bailey, la., and James Eernisse in Sheldon, and sisters, Mrs. G. V Browning, Pasadena. Calif., and Mrs. Mary Evans, Lesterville, Alberta, Canada.

Mrs. Hirsch was born here on November 16, 1872. At that time, only a few families lived in this area. The Eernisse family then lived on the farm on Highway 18 West, now occupied by Dick Ver Doorn. The lake on that road still bears the name of Eernisse’s Lake. Mrs. Hirsch was buried here in the family plot on Wednesday.

Mrs. Leslie Hirsch (nee) Miss Susie Eernisse passed away in a Sioux City hospital on Monday evening at the age of 64 years. Mrs. Hirsch was formerly a Rock Valley resident, having been born here November 16, 1872 where she attended school. Mrs. Hirsch moved to Sioux City from Lincoln, Nebr. and lived in Sioux City for several years. Mrs. Hirsch was a member of the Knox Presbyterian church in Sioux City and also of the Royal Neighbor Lodge.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 o’clock Thursday morning in the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler funeral home, conducted by Rev. Otto Brunskamp, pastor of the Knox Presbyterian church of Sioux City. Interment took place in the Valleyview cemetery at Rock Valley the same afternoon. Those who mourn her passing are the widower Leslie Hirsch, one daughter Mrs. Virginia Studley, both of Sioux City, three brothers Matt and Abe Eernisse of Bailey, Ia., and James of Sheldon, two sisters Mrs. G. V. Browning, Pasadena, Cal. and Mrs. Mary Evans, Lesterville, Alberta, Canada.

Her death certificate has Mrs. Susie Hirsch, resident at 1719 23rd St., Sioux City; lived in Sioux City 30 years; husband Leslie Hirsch; born November 16, 1872 in Wisconsin; parents Matt Eernisse and Mary Alewynse, both born in Holland; died at 2 a.m. February 15, 1937; cause, lobar pneumonia; contributory cause, rheumatic fever; buried at Rock Valley.

The Sioux County marriage register for 1898 has groom Leslie C. F. Hirsch, age 27, resident of Salix, Iowa, a barber, born in Floyd County, Iowa, parents John L. Hirsch and Louise Kluckhohn; bride Susie Eernisse, age 26, resident of Rock Valley, born in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, parents Matthew Eernisse and Mary Aleyne; married at Rock Valley March 1, 1898.
