From the Sioux Center News, December 29, 1936:

Former Sioux County Man A Suicide

LeRoy DeMoss, 24, well-known Sioux county road construction worker, was discovered dead and the body in a charred condition when it was found in a ditch on a road near Fonda, Ia. Investigation by authorities revealed that the youth evidently had shot himself but no explanation has been found for the car burning. LeRoy De Moss was well known throughout Sioux county having worked on several road projects in this vicinity. He spent the past summer in Ireton, Rock Valley, Inwood and also worked on a project near George. No reason is given for the untimely and tragic death.
