Lakewood Man is Buried on Sunday, Christian Schnepf , victim of cancer; lived here 30 years.
Funeral services were held at the Lakewood Lutheran church on Sunday for Christian Schnepf, resident of Lyon county for more than 30 years, who died Friday after a long illness at his Lakewood home. Following the services which were conducted by Rev. G. Hoelscher of Rock Rapids, the remains were taken to Hull for interment.
Christian Schnepf was born December 25, 1857 at Bockingen, Wurtenberg, Gremany. In 1882 he came to America and settled in Sioux County. The following Year, he married Dorothea Peran (Perau). Ten children were born to them, eight of whom survive their father.
The Schnepfs made their home in Sioux County Intil 1901, with the exception of one and one half year which they spent in Germany, in Mr. Schnepf’s old home. Then they moved to Lyon County, making their home at Lakewood, where the family home has been located ever since that time.
Mr. Schnepf is survived by his widow, three sons, Henry of Rock Rapids, William of Alvord, and Fred of Lester, and five daughters, Mrs. Lena Griesse of Adair, Mrs. Elizabeth McMillan of Vant Wert, OH, Miss Marie Schnepf of Vant Wer OH, Mrs. Mina Finck and Mrs. Rosa Finck of Rock Rapids. Two brothers also survive Mr. Schnepf. They are Gottlob, still residing in Germany and Christoph who makes his home in New Jersey.
