From the Boyden Reporter, August 6, 1936:

CONGRATULATIONS
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vander Pol announce the birth Wednesday of twin sons, weighing six and seven pounds. Dr. Balkema was in attendance.

From the Alton Democrat, August 14, 1936, Boyden news:

Twin sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vanderpoel on Wednesday last, but one little one lived till Saturday {August 8?].

No reference to the baby’s death was spotted in the Boyden Reporter of August 13 or 20. He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index. No information was readily located via Ancestry.com.
