Mrs. Daniel H. Schumacher. Maria Magreta Schumacher, nee Luehrs was born in Hanover, Germany on August 4, 1853. From her seventh to thirteenth year of her age she attended school and after having completed a thorough course in catechetical instruction united with the Lutheran church. In 1875 she was united in marriage with Daniel Henry Schumacher. This union was blessed with 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls, all of the boys and one of the girls have preceded the mother in death. In the year 1880 the family came to America and made their home on a farm in Sioux county, Iowa. And on March 4, 1919 the family retiring from the farm came to George where she lived up to the day of her death. She leaves to mourn her loss-her bereaved husband and five children, Anna (Mrs. Peter Kruse), Catherine (Mrs. Wm. Davids), Minnie, Johanna and Alvena still in the parental home, 18 grandchildren besides a sister and many friends in Germany. The funeral services in charge of Rev. A. E. Boell and assisted by Rev. Meyerhoff were conducted from the Presbyterian church.
