The funeral of Mrs. Henry Van Rooyen took place at the local church Saturday afternoon. Both Reverend Roetman and Reverend C. Wissink delivered brief addresses.

Mrs. Henry Van Rooyen, nee Martha Zorgendraager, born October 29, 1879 at Freeport, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 11, 1943. Mrs. Van Rooyen came to Sioux County at the age of two years and lived one half mile north of Newkirk. In 1899 she married Henry Van Rooyen and lived one mile south of Newkirk until her death.

Four children were born to this union: Walter (who died at the age of 12), Sylvester, Clarena and Walsie (Mrs. John Blom). She leaves to mourn her death, two sisters, Mrs. H. Hoffs and Mrs. John Fonkert of Newkirk and one brother John of Sheldon.
