Was Vice Consul For Netherlands at San Diego, Cal.

San Diego Union: Services for Jacob John Van Eizenga, vice consul of the Netherlands, will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow (July 13) in the chapel of Bonham Brothers mortuary. The Rev. Geo. F. Williams will officiate. Don A. Smith will give two solos, with Jeanne Taylor at the console of the chapel organ.

Mr. Van Eizenga died in a local hospital after a brief illness. He took ill suddenly with a cerebral hemorrhage at noon Wednesday and died at 2:30 yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Mr. Van Eizenga was appointed vice consul of the Netherlands by Queen Wilhelmina and his appointment was approved by President Hoover in 1930. He has been vice consul in San Diego since that time. Born in the Netherlands in 1864, he finished school and graduated from an agricultural college of the Netherlands and followed this vocation until he came to the United States in 1893.

He was married in the Netherlands in 1883 and two children were born to the family prior to comiing to America, after which the third child was born. Mr. and Mrs. Eizenga celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in San Diego two years ago.

After coming to the United States Mr. Van Eizenga was engaged in the lumber business in Orange City, Iowa, for many years. He became one of the outstanding mathematicians of that state. After retiring from business in 1924 Mr. Van Eizenga came with his family to San Diego.

Besides his wife, Anna, he is survived by two sons, John J. and Hessel J. Van Eizenga; one daughter, Gertrude Anne; and one sister, Mrs. H. Reese. He was a member of the San Diego Consular corps and members of that organization will act as pallbearers.
