Services held for Peter Van Roekel

Funeral services for Peter Van Roekel, 89, were held Thursday at l0:00 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church. Reverend Donald Lenderink officiated. Burial was made at West Lawn Cemetery, with the Van Etten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Roekel died Monday at the local hospital, where he had been a patient for the last 5½ years.

He was born near Orange City on October 22, 1877. He farmed in the Maurice area until moving to Orange City in 1937.

He was married to Johanna De Jong, December 28, 1906.

Survivors include one son, Elmer, of Maurice, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death in 1962. Also preceding him in death were a daughter Ruth, a son Milton, and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Henry Van Stryland of Orange City and Mrs. Peter Roos of Sheldon, and three brothers, George of Maurice, Benjamin of Orange City, and Ernest of Lynden, Washington.
