Died: February 8, 1975Martin Van Peursem, 96, of Orange City, died February 8 in an Orange City Nursing Home.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. February 11 in the American Reformed Church of Orange City. The Reverend Donald Lenderink officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery in Maurice with the Van Etten Funeral Home of Orange City in charge.
Mr. Van Peursem was born February 21, 1878, near Maurice. He married Anna Duven February 17, 1904. She died February 7, 1954. He married Elizabeth Popma June 1, 1955. She died in November of 1971. Mr. Van Peursem farmed in the Maurice area until the early 1940's, and moved to Orange City.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Nelvye) Salie of Woodstock, Minnesota, Mrs. J.W. (Marguerite) Barber of Portland, Oregon; and Mrs. Paul (Bernice) Spark of Logan; two sons, Carlton of Woodstock, Minnesota, and Lloyd M. of Newport, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
