Willem Maas Van Peursem died at his home at Orange City Monday April 4 at 8 o'clock a.m. from the infirmities of old age.

Had he lived till Tuesday, April 5th he would have celebrated his 88th birthday.

He was born at Ede, Gelderland, the Netherlands. Came to America with his parents at an early age, arriving at Pella in 1856. He came to Sioux County in 1871.

He was a farmer and lived on a farm southwest of Orange City for sometime, later moving to town.

He was married to Miss Sebia Brink who died in 1891. Later he was married to Miss Fannie Graanstra who died in 1930.

He is survived by four children of his first marriage: John, Abraham, Jeanette, Mrs. E. Reinders, Mary, Mrs. G. Korver; three children of his second marriage: Minnie, Mrs. J. De Groot; William of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Adriana, Mrs. Tony De Weerd.

He is also survived by one brother, William 89, at Pella. One son, Peter, died in 1921.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church with the Reverend Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Reverend Mr. and Mrs. William Van Peursem of Grand Rapids, arrived Tuesday night to attend the rites.
