Mrs. Cornelius Peter Van Maasdam, nee Hattie Hibma, passed away Wednesday, March 20 at the Holland Home in Sheldon, Iowa. She was born in the Netherlands, December 27, 1883, coming to America with her parents in 1910 and settling near Maurice. On February 22, 1911 she married Mr. Cornelius Peter Van Maasdam and they lived on a farm near Maurice until they retired and moved into town. Mr. Van Maasdam passed away January 6, 1954. She had resided in the Home 2 ˝ years.

A son Donald lives in Le Mars and three grandchildren, Judy, Diane and Terry Van Maasdam survive. A brother, Gerrit and sister, Mrs. Anna Solsma of the Sheldon Home also survive besides three brothers, Theodore Hibma of Holland, Michigan, Andrew Hibma of Hull and Nick Hibma of Worthington, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held at the Maurice Reformed Church March 23, the Reverend M. Hoekman officiating. Reverend J. Roggenn, a former pastor, also took part in the service. Mrs. Jake Foreman and Wallace Muilenburg sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Saved by Grace.”

Six nephews acted as pallbearers, Casey Van Maasdam, Peter Van Maasdam, William Hibma, Peter Hibma, James Brown and Dick Smits.

Interment was in the Sherman Township Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.
