MRS. EVERT HULSHOF PASSES AWAY AT HOME HERE--CELEBRATED GOLDEN WEDDING FEBRUARY 22ND

Mrs. Evert Hulshof, born Petronella Remmerde, on February 20, 1865, at Hemmen, Gelderland, the Netherlands, passed away at her home here Saturday, only a few weeks after they celebrated their Golden Anniversary last February 22.

She came to this country from Holland, in May, 1888 and on February 12, 1902 was married to Evert Hulshof . They settled in the Carmel neighborhood where they prospered. Mr. and Mrs. Hulshof moved to Rock Valley in 1924 when they retired from the farm.

Eight children were born to the couple, two dying in infancy. Those surviving their mother are Herman, Ireton; John, Rock Valley; Cornelia, Mrs. W. Feekes, Rock Valley; Maria, Mrs. S. Kuyper, Hull; Nellie, at home, and Evert, Jr., Rock Valley.

She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, as follows: R. Remmerde, Sr., Rock Valley; J. Willem Remmerde, Southgate, California, Mrs. L. Rozeboom and Mrs. A. Peelen, both of Sheldon. Nineteen grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for the honored and beloved mother were held in the First Reformed Church early this week, the Reverend H.J. Aberson officiated. Interment was at Carmel.

Mrs. Hulshof came here in time to go through the trying period of the '90s when first dry weather and then bumper crops that brought practically nothing on the market were enough to try men's souls. She is deeply mourned by her family and a host of friends.
