Funeral services for Dorothy Van Gorp, 47, of Sheldon, were held 1:30 p.m. Sept, 2 at Bethel Reformed Church of Sheldon with Reverend Paul Tanis officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

The former Dorothy Westra was born in Boyden on November 16, 1930, daughter of Henry and Dora (Boender) Westra.

She married Albert Van Gorp at Boyden on June 15, 1951; they farmed near Sheldon.

Mrs. Van Gorp died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Sheldon on August 30.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; one daughter, Jolene (Mrs. Roger Miedema), Sheldon; five sons: Robert, Elwin and Daniel all of Sheldon; David, Iowa City, and John, at home; three grandchildren; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Westra, Boyden; and one sister, Helen (Mrs. Junior Reuvers), Boyden.
